What this converter does
This converter turns metres into feet and back instantly. It also covers inches, millimetres, kilometres, miles and yards — every pair uses an exact, internationally fixed factor, so results are precise. Type a value, pick your units, and read the answer as you type.
One foot is defined as exactly 0.3048 metres, so a metre is about 3.281 feet. The metre is the SI base unit of length, fixed by the speed of light per NIST.
The units it covers
Every length unit converts through the metre, the SI base unit, with a fixed ratio.

The formula
Each unit has a fixed value in metres, so converting means going through the metre once:
result = value × factor_from ÷ factor_toWhere:
- value = the number you typed
- factor_from = the “from” unit’s value in metres
- factor_to = the “to” unit’s value in metres
Worked example
Convert 10 metres to feet.
1 ft = 0.3048 m10 ÷ 0.3048 = 32.808 ftSo 10 metres is about 32.81 feet.
