What this converter does

This converter turns square metres into square feet and back instantly. It also covers square yards, acres, hectares and square miles — every pair uses an exact factor, so results are precise. Type a value, pick your units, and read the answer as you type.

One square metre equals about 10.764 square feet, because a foot is exactly 0.3048 m and area scales with the square. Unit definitions follow NIST.

The formula

Each unit has a fixed value in square metres, so converting goes through the square metre once:

Conversion
result = value × factor_from ÷ factor_to

Where:

  • value = the number you typed
  • factor_from = the “from” unit’s value in m²
  • factor_to = the “to” unit’s value in m²

Worked example

Convert 100 square metres to square feet.

Step 1 · The factor
1 m² = 10.7639 ft²
Step 2 · Multiply
100 × 10.7639 = 1076.39 ft²

So 100 m² is about 1,076 square feet.
