The formula

Each unit has a fixed value in square metres, so converting goes through the square metre once:

Conversion
result = value × factor_from ÷ factor_to

Where:

  • value = the number you typed
  • factor_from = the “from” unit’s value in m²
  • factor_to = the “to” unit’s value in m²

Worked example

Convert 1,000 square feet to square metres.

Step 1 · The factor
1 ft² = 0.092903 m²
Step 2 · Multiply
1000 × 0.092903 = 92.903 m²

So 1,000 ft² is about 92.9 square metres.
